This course concentrates on the principles and applications of microcontroller devices, specifically the PIC16F628A, one of the mid-range PICMicro family of microcontrollers. The focus is on the basic understanding of its structure and function in order to appreciate and apply it in real-life situations.

This course focuses on roots of nonlinear equations, solutions of systems of linear equations, numerical differentiation and numerical integration, interpolation, least squares regression analysis, numerical solution of an ordinary differential equation and partial differential equation, introduction to error analysis, and engineering case studies.

The course covers the principles of computer organization and architecture to make intelligent use of computers for designing and simulating engineering systems, components, and devices. It includes the internal number representation and arithmetic, computer structure, machine language, assembly language concept and assembly language instructions.

This course requires individuals or small teams to use the principles of computer engineering in the design, building and testing of special circuits or simple systems.
